About the author

Intimate involvement with a narcissist is definitely a pre-requisite to understanding this aberrant type of person and the abuse they inflict. As you will read if you choose to participate in Lucy Rising, I have decades of first-hand experience with both a narcissist father and ex-husband. Trust me, I know what you are going through and I have recovered not once but twice from these abusive relationships.

Meanwhile I have provided counseling and help to countless narcissist victims through my participation in the supportgroups.com Narcissist group, where I spent some time as moderator of that group. Narc victims, in spite of the length, depth, and nature of their suffering, are the most kindhearted, appreciative people you’ll ever meet, and even when in the depths of the struggle will encourage and support each other in ways that have amazed me. I would not have a quarter of the knowledge I do without their sharing about their trials and victories.

In addition to my extensive reading and studying of topics like Narcissistic Personality Disorder, co-dependence, and Narcissist Victim Syndrome, I have completed the training course in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and additional studies of this highly successful program.

I have also been a published author for many years, of both fiction and non-fiction.

Today I am happily married to my second husband of two decades, stepfather to my two amazing daughters. My life is a happy, successful, peaceful one, surrounded by family (and some excellent cats). I’m no one special—this can be the happy ending for all victims of narcissists. I want to do all I can to help that happen to you.

IF YOU NEED ADVICE ABOUT YOUR PERSONAL SITUATION, please contact me. All communications will be strictly private, and I’d be delighted to counsel you.

Warning: Please note that while I am knowledgeable and experienced about narcissism and the typically best ways to treat it, I am not a licensed professional. Be mindful of the possibility of your need for professional care, especially if you are experiencing chronic depression, crippling anxiety, or suicidal thoughts. I do recommend that you seek a counselor with knowledge of Narcissistic Personality Disorder. I also recommend that you ask your counselor about MBSR for yourself in conjunction with your prescribed treatment. In-person and/or group counseling is never a bad idea for victims of narcissists and would work wonderfully alongside your doing this or any other MBSR program.
